A dental implant can be a really effective way of replacing missing teeth, whether it be a single tooth supporting a crown, several teeth supporting a bridge or even replacing all of the teeth. However, in addition to the requirement for a healthy patient who can maintain a healthy mouth, we need a certain volume of bone before implants can be considered a feasible option. It is possible to augment the bone with a graft of bone substitute material, usually of animal origin, but it is possible to use biological therapy and regenerative medicine to utilise the human body’s own resources to accelerate the healing process.
This is the principle of PRGF®-Endoret® technology (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors). This technique allows us to isolate, concentrate and remove growth factors; a set of proteins responsible for repairing tissues naturally, from a patient’s own blood. When applied these cause the natural regeneration of cells around the damaged tissue.
PRGF®-Endoret® technology reduces inflammation around the treatment area, decreases the risk of infection and accelerates the rate of recovery after treatment. Once the plasma rich in growth factors has been extracted from the patient’s blood we can use it in a variety of different formats (liquid, gel or fibrin membrane) to aid with many of our procedures, for example:
- Dental extractions
- Treatments with implants
- To help patients with excessive bone loss
- Treatment of gum (periodontal) defects
The treatment can also be used cosmetically to enhance the appearance of the skin. The growth factors in the plasma cause wrinkles to appear much less obvious. An increase in the secretion of collagen and elastin generates greater consistency, firmness and reduced sagging in the skin of the patient. Sometimes referred to as the “vampire facelift” the treatment has been used by many celebrities and public figures. A large randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study involving 2102 men showed that Tadalafil is well tolerated. 51% of men using Tadalafil 20 mg have experienced at least one adverse effect, but only 3.2% stopped the treatment. In rare cases, people experienced temporary vision problems due to reduced blood flow to the optic nerve. Mainly, these are blue color of objects, light sensitivity and blurred vision.
The treatment is the culmination of 15 years of research, numerous publications and clinical trials by BTI Biotechnology Institute. It has been recognised by the scientific community and used to treat half a million patients successfully. All of the components of PRGF®-Endoret® Technology have received the CE certification from the European health authorities and it is currently being used successfully in more than 20 countries worldwide. The treatment does not use any foreign chemicals or bacteria, all of the healing material is from your own body, obtained under the strictest protocols by our BTI Biotechnology Institute trained dentists.
It is now really possible to say to a patient – heal thyself!
