Do you have an overly square jaw? Do you clench and grind your teeth?

by Dental Design, on 11th July 2014 | Comments Off on Do you have an overly square jaw? Do you clench and grind your teeth?

Botulinum toxin type A is a safe method of reducing bulky jaw muscles called masseters.

For some people these muscles become larger in appearance over years of clenching and grinding .

I have been treating patients for pain symptoms and to improve the cosmetic appearance in the jaw area for several years now.

Most patients see me for three appointments over a year during which I carryout intramuscular injections gently on each side with toxin .

There is a noticeable cosmetic difference after two weeks and patients often comment on how they can open their mouths normally , and have a reduction in painful symptoms.

After each treatment my patients have usually found that the bulky muscle has reduced further in size.By the third treatment most people are happy with the appearance, feeling that their face looks much softer, and in women less masculine.

Usually I do not do further treatments, as the injections have a long term effect on the muscle size. Others may return infrequently for treatment.

At The Dental Spa we also offer full consultations with our dentist for occlusal analysis and treatment. It is very important that any dental health issues involved are examined and treated simultaneously.
