I have suffered from psoriasis for as long as I can remember and that is over 40 years. Fortunately it is relatively mild and I get patches or scales on my elbows, hips and knees, with occasional more widespread episodes. Even though I would describe it as mild, it is still acutely embarrassing as it is quite unsightly, people’s eyes drift to my elbows in conversations and I leave a trail of dry skin bits behind me.
We are told that psoriasis is incurable but that hasn’t stopped me and fellow sufferers trying a wide variety of creams and ointments. Creams that will stain and ruin towels and sheets, each one as ineffective as the last. Like most sufferers I resigned myself to my fate and get on with my life, simplifying my treatment to applying aqueous cream a couple of times a day, as that is as good as anything.
Recently the product Skinade has been introduced to the Dental Spa, it contains a number of active ingredients, such as collagen, vitamin B complex, MSM, which are essential for the skin’s hydration and elasticity. The theory is that the product helps increase the production of collagen in your skin and in doing so helps you achieve healthier, better and younger looking skin. Obviously this sounds too good to be true from something you drink once a day, however, tucked away on their website is a comment that “skinade is of benefit to psoriasis sufferers”. I have tried everything else, so why not and it makes a change from applying creams and with a cynical mind, I bought a trial pack.
I am only three-quarters of the way through the trial pack but I have been very impressed with the results so far. Psoriasis has gone from one hip, the skin on my elbows is almost normal, without the scales and it actually feels so much better. I wouldn’t like to comment on the anti-aging claims, but the staggering impact on my psoriasis has made me feel so much better. My one regret is that I didn’t take any “before” photos – well I didn’t think it was going to work, so how wrong was I!
