Crease lines and wrinkles are a natural process of ageing due to a combination of sun damage, gravity and the muscle actions of laughing, talking, frowning and crying.

Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles often results in the development of deep frown lines, forehead lines and / or crows feet. Botox can be effectively used to reduce these lines and wrinkles.

What is Botox?

Botox is a licensed medicinal product that has been used successfully for over 30 years. It is the number one product used to treat lines and wrinkles.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by blocking nerve impulses that control the muscles of facial expression. Botox can block habitual facial expressions such as frowning that leave crease lines on the face. New lines are prevented from forming and any existing lines softened – with repeated use established lines will have the opportunity to grow out. Your face will end up looking less stressed and more relaxed.

What can Botox treat?

Botox can treat three different areas of your upper face.

Frown Lines

These are vertical frown lines between the eyes.

Crow’s Feet

Wrinkles radiating from the corner of the eyes caused by smiling, laughing or squinting. They are particularly strong underlying muscles and no other treatment works as well as Botox to eliminate these lines.

Horizontal Forehead Lines

Lines caused by the muscles used for raising the brows. A more dilute toxin is used when treating the horizontal forehead lines allowing for a natural relaxed look.

What happens during the procedure?

It is a simple and safe procedure. Using a tiny sterile and disposable micro-needle, small amounts of the Botox are injected precisely and directly into the desired treatment areas. There will be very little discomfort as the needles are so fine.

The procedure takes from a few minutes up to 20 minutes or so following your initial consultation. There is usually very little if any evidence that you have had anything done – the tiny injection marks are mostly invisible after a few minutes or be covered up with a little makeup.

How long does it last?

The initial effects of the treatment become visible within 48 to 72 hours. The maximum effect is reached in 1 to 2 weeks. Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask-like. The overall results are very natural. The effect of treatment generally lasts for 3 to 4 months. Re-treatment is then required.

What is the cost?

The cost of treatment will vary depending on how many units of Botox are used and the number of units will depend on which areas and muscles are to be treated.
