Sculptra is a product which is different to traditional fillers. It contains Poly-L-Lactic Acid which stimulates your body’s own natural collagen production over several months to gradually restore facial volume and create a more youthful appearance and firmer skin.
As Sculptra is a collagen stimulator it acts more as a regenerative treatment, rather than an instant filler and so the results appear more gradually as your body increases its natural collagen production, but the results are then much longer lasting. The initial treatment would be 2-3 treatments usually 4-6 weeks apart, and then patients usually only need tops ups every 18-24 months.
Sculptra treatment is carried out by Dr Emma Preston who is a qualified Dentist with over 20 years’ experience in facial aesthetic treatments and for over 10 years has focussed her career and training purely on her passion for facial aesthetics to deliver excellent results with a goal of making patients look their best, while still looking natural.

‘I had the opportunity to try Sculptra recently. I was not sure what to expect and I was a little anxious going in. However, I know Emma well and I know that she is an artist when it comes to looking after faces.
I am not a beauty junkie, nor do I constantly use expensive products on my face; I try to eat well and stay out of the sun and use sunscreen. A look around the high street of any town or city shows many faces of all ages with over inflated lips, chins and cheeks, with immobile faces and heavy brows. While this may photograph well, I think it looks like a mask in real life.
I am very fortunate to have had access to advice, information and skin treatments from the Skin Clinic and Emma Preston. Dr Preston has great aesthetic judgement and a light touch and I have trusted her with my face for over 15 years. Emma has developed a wonderful practice, excelling at improving and maintaining the face, without distorting natural facial features.
I have had regular neurotoxin treatment for 20 years, and I have had peels with Louise at the Skin Clinic, which I credit with managing my rosacea.
Azzalure has prevented the worst of deep lines and wrinkles; nonetheless as a child of the 80’s I have some sun damage. Which affects the thickness and texture of my skin. In the past 3 years with turning 50 and being perimenopausal I find my face has lost volume and developed ‘texture’ and generally looks a little dull. I had thought I would just accept this and try to age gracefully.
So, I was not really looking for a facelift or massive cosmetic intervention when Emma mentioned she would be starting to offer Sculptra as a treatment for her Skin Clinic clients. I did some research and was intrigued and agreed to have a trial single vial.
I am delighted with the result. It is now just over 8 weeks since my treatment and I still look like myself, only better. My skin is fresh and looks slightly glowy, my face is its normal shape. The effect is very subtle, and it is hard to describe it. With fillers you see an almost immediate effect, but it can distort your features, Sculptra seems to just renew the skin from within, as if you’ve had a good sleep. You really just look like the best version of yourself. I find I am wearing less makeup and less concealer. I had a little bruising in one area immediately after the treatment but no pain.’
