Tattoo removal methods have existed just as long as the process itself. However, the scarring and pain associated with these procedures (such as salabrasion, invasive insicions and skin grafting) is often more offensive than the tattoo itself.
Tattoos are created by injecting colored pigment into small deep holes made in the skin. Regardless of whether a tattoo artist or an untrained individual injects the pigment, the marks or designs are relatively permanent. When people subsequently want their tattoos removed, most physicians today consider laser surgery one of the best methods.
Q-Switched Nd:Yag lasers offer significant advantages over previous methods of tattoo removal, and are presently the treatment of choice for tattoo removal. Q Switched lasers now provide a safe and effective method of removing all types of tattoos. Eliminating tattoos, this laser treatment leaves natural looking skin. During treatment, pulses of light from the laser are directed onto the tattoo, breaking up the tattoo pigment. Over the next several weeks the body’s macrophages remove the treated pigmented areas.
Treatment costs from £75.00
I joined the Beauty and Aesthetics industry in 1999 and took a keen interest in advanced hair removal techniques, joining Boots Healthcare services in 2003 as a Laser Practitioner and completing the BTEC in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light hair removal award, the highest recognised qualification in the UK for this procedure.
